Vintage Housewife

(via)

I  wan't to learn how to be a beautiful, loving, caring housewife  for when my turn rolls around.   The 1940's women are inspirational, with their cute clothes and gorgeous cakes.  I want my day-to-day life to resemble that lifestyle, however, when I look in the mirror I can see I have a long way to go....Though I know beautiful clothes and delicious food aren't the whole picture, they are inspiring!

"Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come."  ~Proverbs 31:25

Change

I've never liked change. I don't think I ever will. It always brings in a new flavor, an unwanted bitter-sweetness to life. Always seeming to turn the page when I think I've just begun reading. As much as I feel messed up and hurt by its incessant pushes and shoves, I always grow a little or learn a lot. It never hurts me. It never is something I can't handle, however much I think I can't. And it always makes me happy in the long run, unharmed. Instead of my worst fears coming true the flipped page brings new adventures that were even better than the last.

I have to keep reminding myself of that. Seven years ago we moved, thinking it was the worst thing that could ever happen to me. I am so glad I was wrong. We joined a fabulous church, met so many new friends and I set up a new life here. A life I love. This is home. But, now it is time for change again. It is time to flip the page. It is a different sort of change than before, but still a change. I don't know what the future will bring, but I know it is for the best.

My oldest brother, Benjamin, is moving up to Virginia in three weeks. It is hard. I really don't know what to think. Half of me is excited for him, but the other half is sad. He and I have lived under the same roof for fifteen beautiful years (minus his four years at college). We have always been big buddies; just alike. But now it is time for a new change in life. I'm sure whatever it is will be for the best.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  -Jeremiah 29:11

I have hope for the future.

Riverdance

A surprise.  Yes.  It was.

Thursday morning we decided to go see Riverdance at the Civic Center that night. Booked the tickets and went.  Just as simple and fast as that.  Surprises can be the best.  I went into it not knowing anything or what to expect...It took my breath away.  If you have seen them you know what I mean.  Riverdance is a famous Irish dance troupe complete with music, singing, and intense dancing! It is the kind of performance that inspires you to fame.

After going to any performance I hop around the house or sing, sing, sing for days.  I can't help it!

Today really feels like a Saturday.  All the better. I can still enjoy Saturday tomorrow!  Have a good weekend y'all!

Valentines Day In Pink

Do you ever get thrills up and down your back when you look at your favorite color woven into an adorable skirt or printed on a sign?  I do.  That is why I had the time of my life making this collage.   Coral, pink pastels, and rose, are the colors that make me so happy.

What are your Valentine's Day plans?   Are you waiting to be surprised with roses, a night out, or a little gift with a bow on top?  Or are you planning a candlelit dinner at home? As a family, we have a relaxing day, enjoying the cards and candy we find on our plates at breakfast.  Occasionally, us girls will prepare a fun meal and have a candlelit dinner...at home away from the bustle of life. So what do you enjoy?

TeenPact State Class

TeenPact is where I disappeared to last week.  I tend to "vanish" a lot it seems.  Sorry about that.

This Christian organization has played a huge role in my spiritual growth.  The worship, sessions, fun, yet useful life tips, put into the context of each event helps to grow everyone there.  This year, for Georgia, we had the first state class at an overnight camp!  I was thrilled.  It was so much more fun to come back to a camp at the end of the day to spend time with your new friends.  I have to say my favorite event each evening was the game of "Do You Love Your Neighbor?".

Every morning we would drive into Atlanta and learn how a bill becomes a law, have our own elections for governor and three senators (my friend, Anna, was elected a senator), interview lobbyists, Senators, Representatives, and others who were open to questions.  Much to my surprise, I really enjoyed these interviews.  In the evenings we would come back to camp, play games, frisbee, sing around piano,  and then trot down the hill to a superb dinner.  My sister, Susan Liana, and our friend, Ruth, (the cooks) were popular by the end of the week :).  At the end of the day we would have worship and inspiring sessions. Overall, I loved it.  There were some times when I was stretched and drawn out of my comfort zone, but it was all very good for me.

Governor Katie and me. :)

This is our complete Georgia One State Class on the steps inside the Capitol.

I miss y'all!
